The abandoned stone cabin in the featured image rests to the northeast of Green River, Utah. We’ve spent many moons between the river and Capitol Reef National Park over the past ten or fifteen years. As such, we’ve accumulated a fair number of pleasant photos from these parts which is why I’ve already posted quiteContinue reading “Green River and the San Rafael Reef”

Utah Cacti
These were all taken along Interstate Highway 15 between Saint George and the Virgin River Gorge. The cactus in the featured image is commonly called whipple cholla. 🌵
Friends!
For us taking pictures of friends is a real good time. 🙂 All of these shots come from the context of adventure times with friends around Utah and Washington. All taken using Canon equipment, mostly with a Rebel using a 18-55mm macro lens.
Studying Design and Illustration
Throughout my life I’ve devoted considerable effort to developing an understanding of traditional design and illustration across a variety of topics. Most of this time has been spent on learning about photography, typography, and raster manipulation.
Ellipses and Semicolons
Been working with some friends on making a comedy feature film. Additional Bugs and Blossoms
More insects and plant life from photos around Utah taken in years past. There was a fire up Diamond Fork Canyon some years ago but the seasonal wildfires would not be dissuaded from their yearly growth.
The Flora and Fauna of Midsummer
My partner and I have a persistent fondness for the aesthetics of floral life cycles. The local bugs seem to be pretty big fans as well. These were all taken near Diamond Fork Canyon.
Red, Green, Blue
Took a day off from posting to focus on other stuff and to recharge my batteries, so to speak. Here’s another set of Southern Utah shots. As a family, we’ve taken thousands of landscape and nature photos over the years. I enjoy going through old raw images as a way of remembering and exploring newContinue reading “Red, Green, Blue”

Southern San Rafael Hoodoos
Utah’s deserts are stunning for a variety of reasons. One of my favorite things about the geography is the texture of the landscape. For me the texture of the rocky terrain and lighting are especially clear in grayscale.
